The Bait Shack on a buggy Summer Night - 2004

The "facilities" are primitive. The running water is the river. Although it is not polluted, I myself don't drink from it.  My dog and the wildlife seem healthy enough, but I bring my own drinking water.  We do have the individual bottles of water for sale in the bait shop.  And there is a faucet at the baithouse which is left over from the quarry operation which gives good enough water for plants and radiators, but again, I don't even make the coffee with that!

There are a couple portapotties around the property which are serviced weekly and kept clean and with TP, so we are not entirely uncivilized. The main one behind the Bait Shop is handicapped accessible.

We used to have a dozen picnic tables. Those that weren't carried off by the flood in '97 were either burned up by campers or turned over and used as rafts by local varmints and are perhaps somewhere down stream.  We tried to keep up with this activity for awhile, but gave it up.  So, there aren't any more wooden picnic tables. There are currently a dozen concrete tables scattered about the park and one wooden one left.  To be on the safe side,  pack a card table if you need or want one.

The plus is that there is a decent boat ramp to the river that will handle a flat-bottom rig up to 22 feet comfortably. Although I have seen a few intrepid souls launch larger craft, I'ld recommend smaller flat-bottomed boats.  Canoes and kayaks can go anywhere.  And, again, gas motors for the river; electric or MANUAL motors ONLY on the ponds.

Oh, and beware of the..........

IS IT THE WATER OR IS THIS FELLA ON STEROIDS?

Below are some pics of the Eucalyptus Grove on the eastern end of the Island.  It is the most popular area for picnickers and a good shady spot for folks canoeing  the river to take a break before heading on downstream.  Due to its popularity, if you are planning a group event, it is best to reserve it in advance  (559-669-9170)
