Was it the late 60's or the early 70's - I can't recall - when the quarry operation began down here on the river.  Enormous crusher bowls and various size screens to filter different sizes of rock, gravel and sand.  Rumor was that over the next 30 years more than rock was crushed and excavated.  Some say they were working late at nights crushing rock for GOLD.  I never saw any real evidence for this.  No one coming or going in new Cadillacs or Lincolns.  No $2000 cowboy boots strutting around.  But still, it got me thinkin'...............
